Become a CounSouler
Learn the model. Deepen your work. Become more fully yourself as a therapist.
You learned how to do therapy. CounSouling invites you to explore who you are as a therapist.
Learn to see beyond symptoms to the patterns, adaptations, relationships, and experiences that shaped the person sitting across from you—while becoming more aware of what you bring into the room.
CounSouling isn't another modality to master. It's a framework for understanding how we become who we become—and what becomes possible when the patterns that once protected us no longer have to lead.
You'll learn to integrate the Enneagram, IFS, and what you already know into a way of working that feels authentically yours—while developing the self-awareness to recognize when your own ego enters the room, too.
The Journey to Becoming a CounSouler
Understand how we become who we become.
CounSouling begins with a simple premise:
People are not broken. They adapted.
We explore how the self is built grain by grain through temperament, attachment, relationships, culture, experiences, expectations, wounds, and everything we have lived.
Using the metaphor of the sandcastle, you'll learn to see ego not as something to overcome, but as an intelligent organization that developed to help us survive, belong, connect, and navigate our world.
You'll learn how to use:
- The Enneagram to map patterns of attention, adaptation, and identity.
- IFS to meet the parts that carry and protect those patterns.
- Attachment, developmental, somatic, and nervous system perspectives to understand why our adaptations became necessary.
- Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, and Human Design as optional reflective mirrors that can deepen curiosity and self-understanding.
The goal is not to eliminate ego.
It is to understand it well enough that it doesn't always have to lead.
Experience the Model
Explore how you became you.
Before using CounSouling to explore someone else's castle, you'll be invited to explore your own.
You'll turn the model inward and become curious about the experiences, patterns, identities, and parts that have shaped you.
You might ask:
Who did I learn I needed to be?
What does my ego work hard to protect?
Which parts of me tend to take the lead?
What happens to me under pressure?
What identities have I mistaken for the whole of who I am?
Who might I be when my adaptations don't have to work quite so hard?
This isn't about becoming a perfectly healed therapist.
It's about developing the willingness to meet yourself with the same curiosity, compassion, and courage you'll eventually offer your clients.
Because you are one of the most important instruments you bring into the therapy room.
Practice the Model
Learn to enter another person's castle.
Once you've learned the model and experienced it within yourself, you'll begin applying CounSouling to clinical work.
You'll learn to listen differently.
Instead of only asking:
What's wrong?
You'll become curious about:
What happened?
How did this adaptation make sense?
What is this part trying to accomplish?
What does this person's system believe it needs to protect?
What becomes possible when there is enough safety for something different to emerge?
You'll practice integrating the Enneagram and IFS into case conceptualization while learning how and when reflective systems such as Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, and Human Design can ethically support deeper exploration.
These systems are never used to define the client or tell them who they are.
They are mirrors, not mandates.
Becoming a CounSouler
Ultimately, becoming a CounSouler isn't about mastering every tool.
It's about embodying a way of seeing.
A CounSouler understands that ego has a story.
It was built through experience.
It learned how to protect, perform, attach, achieve, hide, control, accommodate, endure, and belong.
We don't need to tear the castle down.
We become curious about how it was built.
We meet the parts still protecting it.
We develop greater capacity to inhabit all of it.
And gradually, ego no longer has to work so hard to lead.
Something deeper gets more room to emerge.
That is the journey from ego-led to increasingly soul-led living.Â
